What is J-plasma?
J-plasma is the newest technology for skin tightening and involves the use of Helium gas and radio-frequency (RF) energy. It is effective in tightening the skin not only on the body but also for the face and neck.
Why J-plasma?
Plasma can be considered as the 4th state of energy. The cold plasma that results in the combination of helium and RF energy firms up the skin resulting in tighter skin.
Why Helium?
Helium, considered as the lightest of the stable gases, can be easily converted into cold plasma with the application of radio-frequency energy.
How is J-plasma done?
The J-plasma is carried out a day surgery procedure under light sedation. Patients undergoing this type of anaesthesia recover faster and do not require an overnight stay at the hospital.
A special J-plasma handpiece is introduced to the body through tiny incisions. This handpiece releases the helium gas as well as tightens the skin with the radiofrequency energy. As the handpiece is carefully withdrawn, changes to the skin are apparent.
How long is the J-plasma procedure?
The time of the procedure will depend on the extent of the proposed areas, but generally an hour per area.
Can J-plasma and liposuction be combined?
J-plasma can be combined with VASER Liposuction to increase optimal result and improve patient satisfaction. The VASER liposuction will remove excess fat and the J-plasma tightens the skin.
What can I expect after the procedure?
Minimal swelling, bruises and discomfort are the most common side effects and are usually self-limiting. Numbness is also not uncommon. Sensation will gradually return after a few months. Most patients resume normal activities as short as a couple of days to a week.
